Pelican Academy is a virtual program that provides cost-free tutoring to low-income families with children (K-12) in subjects like English and mathematics. For non-low-income families, tutoring services are available at a cost. In addition to live classes, educational videos—such as narrations of childhood books—are also available. Pelican Academy also offers an opportunity for underprivileged children to connect with fellow students from around the world.

Pelicans symbolize sacrifice, generosity, humility, and unity. Pelican Academy operates with these values in mind, striving to bring joy and hope into the lives of underprivileged children. All members of Pelican Academy work together to help rebuild stronger futures.

Who We Are
Our Founder
April Wen, a freshman at the California Institute of Technology, was inspired to create Pelican Academy after seeing the devastating conditions of children during the war between Russia and Ukraine. She wishes to be able to help all underprivileged children around the world.

In moments of chaos and disorderedness, children need a sense of normalcy. They need to believe they they can rebuild their lives stronger than ever before. Children did not choose to get involved in any conflicts, and thus, they should not be affected by any rash choices made.

Through our educational and mentor programs, we aim to let all children know that they have the support of everyone around the world. Our program connects great minds across the world. Pelican Academy is dedicated to educating the future generations so that the world can become even stronger than before.
